With more than 30 years service to Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), Louis F. Prato has served as a secretary of the RTDNF Board of Trustees and was a treasurer of the RTDNA Board of Directors for more than twenty years. In recognition to his valuable service to RTDNA and his commitment to journalism, the $1000 Lou and Carole Prato Sports Reporting Scholarship started in 2001. This scholarship will be awarded to a journalism student who incorporates Lou’s journalism values in sports coverage. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled in a college and have at least one full academic year left. The student must be a fully enrolled college sophomore or higher to be eligible for scholarship. Application deadline for this scholarship is May 31, 2014. FedEx/United Negro College Fund Scholarship Program

The FedEx/UNCF Scholarship Program offers scholarships to high school seniors who plan on entering any Historically Black College or University starting in fall 2014. The program has been sponsored by the FedEx Corporation and offers students up to $4,000 ($2,000 per semester). Students must be High School graduates at the time of application. They must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or higher. Besides, they need to enroll at a four year Historically Black College or University. Go Sunoco Digital Marketing Scholarship

For the 2013-2014 school year, Sunoco is offering a $1000 Digital Marketing Scholarship. Participants of the Digital Marketing Scholarship will be assessed on their digital marketing campaign that could be implemented for the APlus convenience store brand at many Sunoco locations. The deadline for the scholarship is May 1st, 2014. Scholarship will be issued in one installment of $1000, which will be applicable to academic expenses, including tuition, books, on-campus room and board. U.S. Bank Scholarship

High school seniors and current undergraduate college students who have enrolled by September 1, 2014 at an eligible two-or four-year college or university can access the US Bank Scholarship. The scholarship offers students a chance to win 35 scholarships of $1000 dollar worth. Students also have the opportunity to win a $5000 scholarship by completing the eight education modules of US Bank Financial Genius online financial education program. Macy Inc., one of the leading retailers in the US, is offering a scholarship program in collaboration with the University of Phoenix. Macy’s Scholarship program will offer three full tuition scholarships. Each scholarship will enable a prospective student to complete an undergraduate or a master’s degree at University of Phoenix. Recipients of the scholarship will be able to choose between an on-campus program at University of Phoenix and a University of Phoenix online program. Only the first 200 applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for the scholarship. Students must send in their application before the first 200 qualified applications or before May 13, 2014, whichever comes first. Anheuser-Busch Legends of the Crown Scholarship Program

Anheuser-Busch Legends of the Crown Scholarship Program was started by Anheuser-Busch, a major American brewer, in partnership with UNCF. The amount of scholarship award is $500 for each selected student, who is entering their junior year study at a four year accredited Historically Black College or University starting fall of 2014. There are several eligibility requirements for the scholarship. Major requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.2, an official transcript, 250-500 word essay exhibiting leadership traits, and two reference letters. VSA Playwright Discovery Award Program

VSA Playwright Discovery Award Program is for middle and high school students, so that they can share their disability experience with others. Students can create fictional characters with the help of art or script writing. Young writers with or without disabilities can submit their entries for the award. The competition is categorized in three divisions: grades 6-7, grades 8-9, and grades 10-12 (or equivalents). A panel of theatre professionals will select the winners from each division. Winners will receive $500 for their school’s arts programs, along with an award for excellence in script writing. In the senior division (grades 10-12), winners will go to Washington, D.C. for the VSA Playwright Discovery Weekend Intensive. AFIO stands for Association of Former Intelligence Officers. The purpose of AFIO scholarships is to help students reach their potential, without having to worry about their educational budget. A number of scholarship awards are offered by AFIO and the award amount for 2014 ranges from a thousand to four thousand dollars each. MassMutual Scholars Program

The MassMutual Scholars program is financed by the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. It focuses on promoting higher education and employment for students who represent the rich cultural diversity of our nation. In 2014, MassMutual plans to offer $150,000 of funding to at least 30 students who are in the process of completing their undergraduate program. Scholarship amount for each student can be up to $5,000. Application deadline for the scholarship is May 2, 2014. AfterCollege is a resource that offers STEM Inclusion Scholarship. STEM Inclusion scholarship is for candidates who have performed remarkably in their field. Candidates can acquire the STEM Inclusion Scholarship when it’s time to find an internship or a job. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is June 30, 2014.
